Two Early Experimenters with Groups

The two early experimenters with groups refer to Jacob Moreno and Trigant Burrow. Their influence on the work by group analysts and within groups is set in context alongside contemporary analysts such as Freud, Ferenczi and Lane, and later on, Bion, Anzieu and Foulkes. Their respective backgrounds, their experiences with and approach to groups are compared, with a view to highlighting fundamental dimensions of group therapy which continue to exist in group analysis today.
