The Laius Complex: The Effect of Intergenerational Conflict on the Development of the SelfDepartment of Child and Adolescent Mental Health, High Wycombe With the integration of later developments in psychoanalytic and scientific thinking, this article aims to enlarge on our previous understanding of internal psychic structure, inter- and intra-generational relationships. It proposes a specific wav through which cross-generational experiences influence not only internal structures but also the mode of thinking and the culture of the next generation.
