Ecosystemic Thinking in Group TherapyInstitute for Behavioural Sciences, University of South Africa
University of South Africa The article aims to illustrate how an ecosystemic perspective can be effectively applied in group therapy. A brief overview is provided to explain the development from a Newtonian perspective through general systems theory towards the ecosystemic approach. The application of this thinking in a therapeutic context is illustrated with a story representing the therapists' construction of the group processes and the nature of the ecosystemic therapists' involvement is discussed.
